About Robyn Wheatley
My family moved to Dundee when I was two. I grew up and graduated from Newberg High. While in college I met my husband we started our family and purchased our first home here in Newberg.
I enjoyed raising my family here. I had my children involved in all the local activities. We all enjoyed the fun things of Newberg, like the Old Fashion Festival, the local library events and CPRD activities. Newberg is a wonderful place to enjoy life and raise a family.
During the pandemic I saw how things were changing and I felt that I could not idly sit by. When the schools were shut down and showed no signs of reopening I knew I needed to get involved. I started at the state level of trying to effect change and soon realized my efforts needed to be at the local level.
I saw the need to help people have a voice and to know that they could effect changes by their sacred right to vote. I began working diligently to foster change.
Two events solidified my desire to run for city council; the first being that the citizens were denied their voice in the decision that the city council made to create an Urban Renewal District. The second was when a church was given money to set up a tiny home village adjacent to a school. The lack of care and concern for the children of that school hit me hard and I knew I needed to somehow, help the residents of Newberg have a voice.
